Also, talking about Jered... Like you told me, cloth is really expensive and rare in that city right? So how does a "crazy guy", Jered get to own clothes? Full clothes? He could even afford repairing some holes with patches! Did he steal them or have a bad history with cats?
He might have been a rich and well known rabbit in another city, but gone crazy and was forgotten when something happened to him....
